Project Overviewe
The Korea Craft & Design Foundation (KCDF) collaborated with Studio Wis in 2023 to develop children’s educational content on traditional lifestyle culture. The project was designed to help children learn about Korean traditional culture while fostering cultural identity and supporting their healthy growth and development.
“Rolling Play: Our Games” was created specifically for young learners, combining engaging activities with play-based learning to enhance creativity, social-emotional growth, and cultural awareness. The program integrates traditional culture and games with modern interpretations, making them accessible and enjoyable for today’s children.
The visual identity of the project was carefully designed to reflect the educational goals. By incorporating KCDF’s character “Jo-Oraeng” and consistent branding elements, the content delivers a playful yet coherent design language that clearly communicates the intention behind the curriculum.

“Rolling Play: Our Games” was developed to further enhance the brand elements first introduced in 2022 through KCDF’s character “Jo-Oraeng.” By refining and expanding these elements, the project aimed to create a more engaging and enjoyable experience for children.
Studio Wis led the project with an integrated approach—covering educational planning, curriculum development, brand design, educational content creation, and promotional material production. This holistic process ensured that the educational objectives and brand identity were consistently reflected across all aspects of the project, making it both playful and pedagogically meaningful.

The project combined traditional Korean games such as Yut-nori (board game with sticks), Ttakji-chigi (paper slap game), Top-spinning, and Gonggi (stone toss game) with the educational curriculum, and reinterpreted them through modern design. Alongside these activities, various learning tools were developed, including storybooks to aid children’s understanding, instructional guides, and worksheets.
